If you've been to Santa Fe before, you probably can imagine the delicious taste of green chiles smothering a plate of enchiladas (see above). Or on top of a plate of eggs. Or on a steak. Heck, they put green chiles on just about everything in this historic city that is the capital of New Mexico.
Style and art
Santa Fe, laid out on a grid of streets emanating from its central plaza, has a particularl architectual style, known as the Spanish Pueblo Revival look. It includes rough exposed beams through supporting wall, making them visible from the outside. Those earth-toned walls generally are made of stucco. In the 1930s, the style was broadened to include portales, or large covered porches and other features.
But Santa Fe is more than interesting, cozy homes. It's about a creative multi-cultural community that wraps visitors and residents with a warmth found in few places. With stunning art galleries, sculpture and blends of music and dance, Santa Fe is an exciting town to visit or move to. Home to the Santa Fe Opera and a well-known music festival, the city is a place where world-class performances are as common as the green chiles in daily meals.
