City of Steel

Pittsburgh, the Steel City, today is an economic powerhouse built on technology, research, health care and financial companies.  The city that once produced up to half of the nation's steel now has no steel mills downtown.  Instead, a vibrant, ethnically diverse quality of life flourishes.  To top it off, Pittsburgh has some of the biggest -- and most vocal -- sports fans in the country!

Rebirth

Pittsburgh's strength today is found in its relatively stable economy that sits on the backbone of major financial headquarters and campuses for companies like Google, Intel, RAND and Apple.  During its rebirth, the city converted abandoned industrial sites into great housing, shopping and office areas. 

By the time Pittsburgh had recovered from corporate raids, it had become a major worldwide travel destination and named one of the most livable cities in the country. From distinct neighborhoods where you can get great food to gleaming skyscrapers that peek at the confluence of the Allegheny and Monongahela rivers that form the Ohio River, Pittsburgh is a great place to visit ... and live.
