Ranked in 2011 by Money magazine as America's fourth best place to live, Leesburg, Va., is a hop-skip-jump from Washington, D.C., but has the feel of a small town where neighbors know neighbors. Near the Virginia-Maryland border in historic Loudoun County, commutes can be tough, but "residents say the tradeoff to live in this pretty town is worth it."
Lots of history in one place
Just over 30 miles north of Washington, Leesburg has undergone extensive growth over the last 30 years, especially since the construction of Washington Dulles International Airport. The bedroom community, known for its high quality of life, has a storied history, including serving as temporary home to the U.S. government during the War of 1812.
